The Divorce Process
(Agreed or Joint Divorce)
In most cases, when both parties
agree on everything, this process is pretty simple.
Once you and your spouse have
outlined an agreement you can begin preparing your
papers or have someone prepare them for you.
When you have the papers completed,
you will both need to sign and in some cases, have
them notarized.
You will usually need to make
a few copies of all of the forms before taking them
to your county clerk for filing.
The court clerks are usually
pretty helpful. You must remember though, they will
not give you any legal advice. This includes telling
you anything that has to do with securing legal rights.
We encourage those who prepare their own papers to
have them looked over by an attorney prior to filing.
Missing
Spouse or a Spouse Who Won't Sign
You can still get a divorce,
the process is just slightly different. We do both
missing spouse divorces and default divorces (a spouse
who doesn't sign).
