State Divorce Laws

We Will Make This Easy and Walk You Through the Entire Process.

Step One

Nothing contained in our website shall be construed as legal advice. We are not authorized to give legal advice, we are not attorneys. This is not to be construed as legal advice.

Now you have your completed papers in hand but aren't sure what exactly to do with them. We will walk you through the filing process and then you are all done.

The Final Step

Filing

We understand that this seems like an intimidating time. All of us here have been through this at least once and some of us, twice

This is a general overview of what happens at the courthouse. Please keep in mind that all states are different so the actual process may vary a little.

If you have questions prior to filing your papers, please contact us and one of our technicians will walk you through it.

First, you will want to make sure that everything is in the papers that you want. If we prepare your documents for you, we will make any corrections for you.

Next you will want to get them signed. If your spouse is signing, make sure that they are signed and notarized accordingly.

Once the documents are all signed and notarized you will need to make two copies of each form. This is very important in all cases. You will want a signed copy for your records and you will need one for your spouse.

You will then take all of the copies to the court house along with a self addressed stamped envelope for you and your spouse.

The clerk will stamp all of the copies filed and give you back the two copies. If you are having your spouse served, this is what you will serve on your spouse, one set of the filed forms.

If this is an agreed divorce, you will need to mail or hand deliver the copy of divorce documents.

Please keep in mind that there are court fees associated with filing for a divorce. If you are income eligible we will fill out the court fee waiver forms for you, free of charge. Our technicians are very familiar with this.

Now you have the three basic steps for getting a divorce. If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact us.
